I've found over the years that mobile phones don't react very well to sudden shock (of various forms) or immersion in beer or water (whether bath or toilet), but I've now also discovered that coffee can also prevent normal functioning. I'm still not quite sure how it happened, although I now realise that my decision to have a cup of coffee while trying to sort out two computers at the same time wasn't exactly clever. The result was increased stress levels and a non-working phone. A word of advice ... never put a phone in a shirt pocket while leaning over a cup of coffee. Bugger. Bugger times ten.

At work we have one of those fascinating in-house magazines. You know the sort; pictures with people smiling and/or looking serious while standing looking at a blank computer screen. Or congratulations on someone getting married. Or retiring. Or even rescuing a helpless budgie. Yes, a budgie. Sorry Jeff, but I really feel that this should be shared with the world ..... Binky - a blue and white budgie - recently spent the weekend in a 'foster' home in Durham after being found gasping for breath clinging onto the handrails outside [building name]. Jeff Nicholls (Business Design and Development) managed to persuade the bird to jump into his hands ... it goes on, but since Jeff's a mate I'll spare him further embarrassment. Well, perhaps a picture too.

After a taster at Leeds festival, we simply had to see the Raconteurs again. In Newcastle too. Needless to say, they were brilliant.

We're just home from Belfast, where we continued our mission to photograph every Government office in the country.

And we even managed to fit in a couple of pubs.

I'm going to see Field Music on Saturday. They're pretty good. And I'm going to see the Raconteurs in a couple of weeks. They're truly great. But ... and I still can't quite believe it ... Lisa Germano has a tour. I've waited years for this; I can't explain how happy I am.
