This cartoon strip is actually quite good ....

I'd intended a medium scale rant this evening (yes, I realise that it's now morning), but the moment has passed. I'd intended mentioning that Preston and fog/rain aren't the best combination, that Preston isn't actually my most favourite of places, and that Preston isn't exactly the most accessible in terms of the rail network (unless, perhaps, you live in Manchester or Glasgow). However, I shan't (isn't shan't a very 1950s sort of word?).

Anyway, in the absence of a rant, I shall give the text from a poster outside a church in (yes, you guessed) Preston.

You are invited to our services on Sunday at 10:30 am, where you can meet new friends and Jesus.

What?

Oh, while on the subject of daisies, there's a rubbish film on TV right now; Scream 2. Of interest, though, is that Eels' lucky day in hell is played halfway through. What more could you want in a (rubbish or otherwise) film? I should explain the daisies connection to the unaware; there are two Eels songs with daisies in the title, and another with daisies in the lyrics. Um, I should probably go to bed now.

Anyone who knows me, knows that I like poppies. I also like daisies, but that's not relevant to this evening. I've been trying to grow poppies (and daisies) for several years, off and on, without much success. I've never understood why they seem to be able to thrive on any available piece of dirt, other than dirt remotely connected with yours truly. Anyway, I did buy one of those huge poppy plants (you know the ones, they come in different colours - see below) last year and it still survives. It's truly gorgeous.

Yesterday, we went to Alnwick gardens and Sophie learned all about skunk. I'm hoping that she either doesn't mention it at school or, if she does, her teacher thinks she's talking about a small, smelly animal. Anyway, a cool picture of a little bee.
