Dad: heart attack. Mum: cancer. Sister: suicide. What did Mark Everett turn to for consolation? Rock'n'roll, writing and the love of a good dog

There's a lot of Eels stuff going on in the world of late. A book from E, a documentary, two albums, a tour, a TV commercial and several media appearances. Go on, click the link and have a read.

While waiting at the (currently under destruction reconstruction) bus station in Washington town centre, soaking up the ambient atmosphere, we noticed the instruction below. There were actually several copies in different locations.

And, when copying the picture from my phone, I came across one I'd forgotten about. This one's from the recently decorated World famous Trent Bar in Newcastle. I quite like it, but somehow managed to resist replicating it at home. Cool, isn't it?

I'm in BOAB (which is a silly name for a bar). I'm going to finish my pint of beer and then go home. Richard Ashcroft is playing. Well, not in person. I still have a poorly cough.

Well, after an horrific Metro replacement bus to Sunderland (the bus was older than me, smelled like the inside of a dishwasher, was full of moaning people; oh, and the obligatory screaming child), I'm now sitting in Baroque with my little laptop, waiting for my youngest child to arrive. In view of the amount of alcohol consumed last night in our local establishment (we went to see a rather good band called Fizzyfish), I have a pint of Shandy.

Several years ago, when I had a poorly cough, a friend (Sam) took pity on me and posted a bag of locally (Boston) made sweets to me. I'm now quite addicted to Jakeman's throat & chest sweets; well, only when I have a cold. Coincidentally, I have a cold right now.

Fortunately. these most delicious and soothing sweets are now available in my local corner shop. And right across the UK, I'd imagine.

If anyone has a spare $25,000 lying around gathering dust, I'd like one of these please.

Well, I seem to have everything back up and working again. It's not quite as it was, but I'm warming to it now. I guess this means that I've made my move to linux complete (well, apart from the other few computers in the house running Windows). It hardly hurt at all.

Although it'll never hold our music collection, or all of our pictures, and has pretty much the same spec as a desktop PC I had several years ago, my beautiful little Asus eee is now my main computer.
