It's almost Sunday. Sunday's can be a bit boring. Then again,
today's Saturday and it's been a bit of a nothing kind of day. i went
shopping, but I don't enjoy shopping at all. Monday 23 February 2009 22:31
On my second trip to the sorting office, I picket up my 'new'
watch. It's a few years old, mechanical, Russian, little bit bashed.
But a thing of real beauty.Don't you think? My Vostok (or Wostok, or Boctok) watch is now my most favourite thing.

We went to see the Mosaics
at the Live Theatre in town last night; it was an EP lanch thing. They
were, as usual, very good and it was nice that they now have so many
songs that they can do a full set without playing them all. I still
can't understand why they've not been signed yet.
A little while ago, I bought a cool watch on ebay; an old Russian army watch. It's taken a while to arrive, but that's to be expected since it had to travel from the Ukraine. Anyway, it arrived yesterday. Apparently, it wouldn't fit through my letterbox, so the postman left a card. Despite having a hangover, I decided not to have a lie-in and set off for the sorting office this morning to collect it. Unfortunately, as the man in the sorting office explained, the card stated that I had to wait 48 hours before collecting or rearranging delivery. So I have to go back on Monday.

Typical, isn't it. It's an FBS*
today. We've not had one since just before Christmas and, sensibly I
thought, I'd booked a day off tomorrow in case I've a hangover. Not
that there was any need of course; I have a sodding cold and feel all
wobbly. I'll go for a couple of hours, but then I'll be off home for
another early night. I'll talk about the weather now i think. It's cold again, which is a major challenge for our ancient boiler, but at least it's not snowing or raining. This global warming is a funny thing though; we've lots of bits of levtover snow, the pond's frozen solid, but bulbs seem to think it's Spring (Ok, I know bulbs don't think).
* FBS: free beer Sunday (Debbie's competition winnings)

While eating tea this evening, we were having a conversation about
burials (doesn't everyone?). Rhiannon hadn't realised that bits are
removed and that make-up is often involved. She couldn't see the need
for make-up in particular. Anyway, the conversation went something
along the lines of:Paula: Well you wouldn't want to see your great aunt Mabel in a coffin looking all dead, would you?
Rhiannon: I've got a great aunt Mabel?

After a year and a bit, Rich, Ian and I finally found a day that
we were all free for a reunion. The location started as Liverpool,
changed to Blackpool,
then ended as Lancaster. Which is a very nice place indeed. Rich
performed his duties as official guide very well, taking us to some
excellent public houses. And a great veggie restaurant. Where we read
the notice board. We then did some window shopping.
And met some local inhabitants. This one didn't have much to say though.
After a couple of drinks (including some radioactive cider), we returned to hotel where I made Ian and Rich watch Elbow on tv. However, they weren't very appreciative.
Then we stole some plastic flowers. And a man took a picture of us with our flowers.
Some of our party fell asleep ....
And grew horns (!?)
It was a good night. Although my memory of the evening's a little hazy, I think we agreed on Liverpool as the next venue. I think horses may be involved, but I may have dreamt that.

Yet again, a little bit of snow ant the country grinds to a halt.
It's ridiculous isn't it. We seem to have lost the ability to cope with
bad weather over the last couple of decades. Anyway, it's nice to look at from indoors.
A hot bath and an early night I think.

I should be ashamed, but this was our recycling box a few days ago. There are some cans in there too now though.I've only had my shiny new camera a few weeks, but it seems like ages since i used my old one. I came across it the other day and was surprised how shiny it looks. I really couldn't remember it being like that. It's still a lovely little thing.
I can't believe another weekend's gone already. I've not actually done anything, but the time passed so quickly. Back to work tomorrow. Lovely.
