Well, the new trolley performed very well on all surfaces;
unfortunately this included mud, although I have to say that we hardly
noticed the result of the early thunderstorms. Glastonbury's over and
we've been home just over a day now. I was suffering from a major case
of post festival come down yesterday, but today it's already starting
to feel as though it all happened a long time ago.I could write pages about those few days, but it's late so I'll keep it short. Blur were brilliant, Neil Young was great and seeing the Specials was an emotional experience. In fact, the whole thing was amazing. I loved it and, despite saying last year that my festival days are coming to an end, I'll be back next year.
I'm probably going to Leeds festival this year too but, large as it is and with a great line-up, it just couldn't compete.
Anyway, in no particular order ...

We lost a dear friend today; one that'd always been there when we
needed help with a heavy burden. While in Asda this afternoon, with our
sturdy festival beer trolley. shopping for essential Glastonbury
supplies, disaster struck. On selecting our preferred beer, I lifted
the handle to extend it to full length. And it came off in my hand. Not
put off by this setback, I re-inserted the handle. And the trolley fell
apart.Obviously, we were devastated. Our trolley had served us well at festivals and we were quite upset at its demise. After all, we'd developed an emotional attachment to it.
So we did the decent thing, dumped it in a skip, and went to B&Q to buy a new one. Isn't it beautiful?

We went to see Oasis at the Stadium of Light
last night. A few of us were there, but all separately. Kasabian,
supporting, were very good, but I wasn't overly impressed with Oasis.
It's not that they were rubbish or anything like that, but it didn't
work for me. I also left my camera at work, so had to rely on my phone.
Anyway ...Kasabian ...
Oasis ...

Our freezer passed away a couple of years ago. It wasn't
unexpected since it'd been ill for some time. A replacement was quickly
procured and the departed freezer temporarily moved to the garden.
Unfortunately, despite being large and white, it soon became part of
the garden furniture. Last week, though, I noticed that moss had
started to grow on the freezer, so decided it was time for it to leave
the garden. I found the trolley we take to transport beer at festivals and used it to move the freezer to the front of the house for collection. Because the passage at the side of the house is full of junk, and a very nice door rescued from a skip, I had to take the freezer through the house. At that point everything went wrong. While moving the freezer, I knocked the table holding my gnome. I thought it was ok at first, since the table just wobbled a but. But then it gained momentum and toppled over. The gnome hit the floor with a big splat. There was no hope of salvaging anything, so I guess I'll have to start all over again.
Anyway, here's a picture taken a couple of days beforehand.

I was actually pretty happy with the half gnome, half other thing effect. Trying to be positive, the second version will be better. Sigh.
