For a very long time I've thought about building a computer. No, I don't mean assembling one in a metal box; I've done that more times than I can remember. I mean building something that looks nice. Well, I do realise that nice is subjective.

Anyway, after a lot of thinking, but no doing, I've decided to make a start.

I was prompted by the recent demise of my eldest child's desktop. I said I'd take a look at it, but quickly realised that it was way too old to spend money on. So I bought her another from ebay. This left me with an old PC, a Celeron 600 I think, inside a very dated PC-cak coloured box. Today, I went to B&Q and bought some stuff.

Then I dismantled the old PC.

Well, it's a start isn't it?

Perhaps I was a little over-optimistic about this being finished quickly. My first saw cut.

Saturday 21 March 2009

A few more saw cuts and I've enough bits of wood to make a start.

Unfortunately, while in B&Q today to buy more plywood, I saw a pine box that would have been (almost) perfect for the job. After a minute or two's mental agony, I decided against the pine box.

I know I should have really started this with more than a very loose idea. A drawing or two would probably have helped. Still, I've managed to make a plywood box.

Doesn't time fly? It's months since I updated any of this and I've made so much progress. Well, none really. I'll come back to it though. Really,I will.
