Bessie

It’s time to say goodbye to Bessie. ‘She’ has been much loved by my second in command, but at the grand old age of 14 has reached retirement. There’s a strong emotional bond, but Bessie has become too expensive. At some point there’ll no doubt be a Bessie II, but right now it’s time to celebrate her life and look back at all the good times spent with her.

History

Since my recent hosting switch, life’s been pretty busy, so I’ve not really had time to upload content. Well, I guess I could’ve copied all of the old stuff (since it was all backed-up), but when I looked back I realised that it was all a bit of a mess. I’d always known that, because things had tended to evolve over time, older and newer content would look different. But having taken a proper look at it, I can see it’s just a mess.

So, I’ll take the opportunity to tidy things up a little and remove anything that’s no longer relevant. To me. That doesn’t mean that I’m going to rewrite history though.

Time’s always an issue, and I’ve usually more interesting things to do, so I’ll add stuff as I get to it. Meanwhile, I’ve started here.

I should add that any pictures will follow later and old links are probably not going to work.

Metro

I’ve a meeting due to start in a minute or two. But I’m not there because a Metro train is stuck at Gateshead. I took a bus across the river then found that Metros on the other side are delayed. So I’m heading back to the office. Great start to the week.

My little garden

I’ve never really been much of a gardener; when I was selling my old house, I was even looking for one without a garden. But one of the main reasons for buying this house was that it has a cool little (somewhat neglected) garden.

Around four years ago, I started to take more of an interest in the garden and it’s actually looking pretty good right now.

Last summer’s dreadful weather meant that I didn’t spend any time out there, but this year’s sunshine has pretty much given us another room. There’s still work to do, but I’m content with our little garden. It’s a nice place to be.

I’ve finished my replacement wall too. I should really have taken a before picture.

Tuns

In the Three Tuns with my second in command. It’s a bit warm, but the band’s pretty good.
