Southport

As is the norm for me, my train journey this morning was not according to plan. One slow running train, and another broken down, meant a detour via Bolton (I’d never been to Bolton before). Meeting over, I have a few minutes to wait for a train. Seeing as it’s a lovely sunny day in Southport …

Smedley Hydro

I’m currently on a train bound for Smedley Hydro. Well, I need to change at Manchester. I’ve never been to Smedley Hydro before, although I’d heard of it. It’s in Southport; I’ve never been there either. It’s only fours by train.

Home

It’s seriously good to be home. The hire van has been returned (and will be missed), some shopping’s been done and then some gardening. Birds are singing in the trees tree and bees are doing their stuff. Time to unwind.

Human nature II

I’m currently quite drunk. But I feel a pressing need to say that my second in command and, her niece, Sadie, have been amazing over the past week. You may probably never see this, but, Suzy and Sadie, you’ve been amazing. An example other people can’t reach.

Doug Greenway

Over the past days, I’ve spent quite a few hours reading in Nene Park, mostly sitting at the same bench. The view’s nice and there’s usually a breeze which does a pretty good job of masking the heat of the sun. It’s been an awful few days though, and the relative seclusion of my bench gave me a degree of isolation from what was happening just a few miles away.

Baby sheep

Just overheard some people’s conversation about which bit of a lamb tastes nicest. I’m sure it’s all soft and juicy, but at the end of the day we’re talking about eating babies.
