LED

Today, I spent eight quid on a light bulb. Really. Ok, it was an LED bulb, technically not a light bulb at all. But it’s brighter and lasts 25 years, so that makes it worthwhile.

It’s a lot brighter than it looks.

I was going to mention beer, but thought that I probably shouldn’t, since I tend to do that way too much.

But, I do need to say that the pint I had today from Out There, in the Bridge Tavern, was beautiful. Sadly, I didn’t take a picture.

I also found a most interesting beer, which I so want to be vegan/vegetarian. And, if it isn’t, why hasn’t someone named a beer (unfined, that is) Schrodinger’s cat before?

I’ve asked the brewer about fish bits, but haven’t had a reply yet.

Oh, our new light bulb …

Meat is murder

It is. Fact. But I’ve literally just read these words and it reminded me of times long gone. I can’t remember exactly when, but it was in the very early 80s. Walking through a subway in central London, I noticed a Smith’s Meat is Murder sticker on the wall; on the right hand side, amongst the graffiti. You didn’t see that kind of thing in the North in those days.

I’ve never claimed to be a fan of the Smiths; well, of the flowers in the pocket era. And I’m not too keen on the man himself as a person (he’s mental and a bit of a nob, after all).

But, as a brand new vegetarian (who was looked on as something of an alien at the time. It was the Northeast, remember), it was a brilliant thing to see.

Having read what Mr Marr has said recently about the Meat is Murder album, and its influence on vegetarianism, it’s clear that the album had real impact, though.

And now I’m going into my fifth without dairy produce week. I’m finding it so easy (the restaurant we’ve booked for our works Christmas lunch has offered vegan options – that’s plural), not what I’d expected at all.

Anyway, I bought a cool shirt.

Our local

Just home from an evening in our local, where we had a very pleasant couple of hours with the Happy Cats (I may have mentioned them previously).

The band was great as always and I kindof liked the change in lineup.

Tyne

Walking under the Tyne bridge this afternoon. I’d forgotten how nice it is.

And it is really nice. Unfortunately, everything in town/by the Tyne isn’t so nice. For example, the plastic bottle reservoir isn’t very pretty.

Anarchy

Went to my local after work, on the promise of vegan beer (an IPA, unfined, from Anarchy). Knowing that my second in command has work early tomorrow, I took the opportunity to fit in a beer whenever I wasn’t being observed. Which probably wasn’t sensible.

So now I don’t feel too great. I blame my reduction in alcohol intake. I never felt like this when I had a big intake.

But, and I don’t understand why, I have lots of new (shiny) pound coins.

Hold Steady

He didn’t seem much different

Except for the blood on his jacket.

I’m quite enjoying the lyrics, One for the Cutters, the Hold Steady.

I’ve only recently been introduced to them and I’ve still a couple of albums to get through, but it’s all good so far.
